First Flight High School DECA club members held a luncheon and officer installation ceremony to kick off the new school year on October 16. DECA is an international association of high school and college students studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and service. After the new officers were installed, club members enjoyed a lunch which was prepared by FFHS Culinary Arts students. Joining the group on this special occasion were alumni DECA members including Principal Arty Tillett and English teacher, Sharon Crane. Additionally, school guidance counselor Susan Lee, and English teacher Christy May shared stories about their past DECA experiences. Mrs. Lee was Mrs. May's DECA advisor at Manteo High School. Each of the DECA alums shared stories and memories about their association with DECA, and encouraged the students' continued participation. FFHS DECA Club sponsors are Career Development/Special Populations Coordinator Jennie Rook, Marketing teacher Mary Jo Smith and Social Studies teacher Jonathan Reed.
